can dogs be gay?
Wednesday, May 17
This was the pressing question we had with our beloved family dog, Gunner. There were signs that definitely pointed in this direction:He LOVES to have his toenails groomed.
He is quite affectionate.
He is rarely without a stuffed animal. This is his favorite pastime. He licks and grooms his "buddies" all day long. And he has to have one by his side when he goes to sleep at night.
But, the obvious sign was that he had no idea how to mate. He has been bred 3 times with another dog, but because of Gunner's "lack of performance", artificial insemination was required.
So, you can see why we concluded that, yes our dog was indeed gay. (By the way, this is how he sits on the couch. Nice, huh?)
But, then the unexpected happened...........my sister, Jennie, moved in with us while she is looking for a house in Denver. A few days before Jennie's arrival she called to tell me that Lizzie (her Old English Sheepdog) was in heat. I told her, "No worries. My dog is gay." Well......... within 2 minutes of Lizzie's arrival, Gunner got his sexual orientation straight - literally. The two of them went at it for hours. The hours turned into days. And after a few days of feeling like I was residing in the Grotto at the Playboy Mansion- we sent Gunner away to separate the two of them and to purify ourselves.
Now all this was quite exhausting. But, we were finally able to put the question to rest. Gunner is definitely not gay. He is just in touch with his feminine side and prefers big girls.
